Lagos Waste Forum is a community-driven initiative dedicated to solving Lagos’ waste challenges. We bring together citizens, schools, businesses, and government agencies to promote recycling, waste reduction, and innovative waste-to-wealth solutions. Our work ranges from community clean-ups to training entrepreneurs and advocating for sustainable policies.
Lagos produces thousands of tons of waste daily, much of which ends up in gutters, landfills, and waterways. Existing waste management systems alone cannot solve the problem. The Forum was created to mobilize citizens, encourage innovation, and bridge the gap between communities and policymakers so that everyone becomes part of the solution.
Everyone is welcome — individuals, families, schools, youth groups, businesses, NGOs, and even government agencies. Whether you are a student looking to join an eco-club, a business seeking a CSR partner, or simply a resident who wants a cleaner community, there’s a place for you in the Forum.
We run a variety of programs, including:
  • Community Clean-Ups across different parts of Lagos.
  • Recycling Awareness Workshops in schools and markets.
  • Eco-Innovation Hub for startups and entrepreneurs.
  • Youth Engagement Programs such as debates and hackathons.
  • Marketplace for Recyclables connecting collectors with buyers.
Volunteering is simple. You can register through our website or social media pages. Volunteers take part in clean-up drives, awareness campaigns, school outreaches, and event organization. No matter your skill or background, there’s always a way to contribute.
Yes. One of our core missions is to turn waste into opportunities. We provide training sessions on recycling, waste-to-wealth businesses, and eco-entrepreneurship. We also connect startups with mentors, investors, and sometimes small grants to help them grow.
Our funding comes from a mix of donations, grants, partnerships, and CSR sponsorships. We also run paid training sessions and consultancy services for businesses that want to improve their sustainability practices. Every contribution is used to expand our impact across Lagos.
Unlike traditional waste programs that focus only on collection, we focus on behavioral change, education, and innovation. We believe true change comes when people understand the value of waste and actively participate in managing it. We also provide platforms for entrepreneurs and young people to turn ideas into real solutions.
Absolutely. We actively work with businesses to develop CSR programs, staff volunteering initiatives, sustainable branding campaigns, and waste audits. By partnering with us, businesses not only contribute to a cleaner Lagos but also strengthen their reputation as responsible corporate citizens.
